The beer that we chose to showcase for our first supper club was our porter. Checking in at a sessional (by IMBC standards) 6% ABV, this beer is refreshingly smooth with the subtle complexity that you'd expect from a porter. The combination of crystal, chocolate and a hint of black malts, creates a slight nutty flavor that we felt would pair well with the smokiness of the bacon. The slight chocolate undertones paired beautifully with the dessert and helped with the overall smooth/creamy finish.
Future supper clubs will feature a wider variety of IMBC beers to pair with each course, but we wanted to keep things simple for this one.
Also, keep an eye out for our barrel aged version of our porter in the next month or so. Our basic porter aged in bourbon soaked oak and vanilla beans. And other exciting new developments in the coming year!
